Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb. oleo or 2 sticks butter
  • 1 cup Crisco
  • 8 eggs
  • 3 1/2 cups plain flour, sifted
  • 2 3/4 cups sugar
  • 8 Tbsp canned milk
  • 1 Tbsp vanilla or lemon extract

Instructions

  1. Cream the sugar, Crisco, and oleo or margarine; add eggs one at a time.
  2. Add flour gradually, mixing well.
  3. Add part of the milk until all the flour and milk are incorporated, beating with a mixer.
  4. Add vanilla or lemon extract if desired, and beat the mixture well.
  5. Grease and flour a 10-inch tube pan, then pour the batter into the pan.
  6. Bake at 325°F for 1 1/2 hours or at 350°F for 1 hour.
