Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter-flavored shortening
  • 1 1/4 cups packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup malted milk powder
  • 2 tablespoons chocolate syrup
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chunks
  • 1 cup milk chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the butter-flavored shortening, brown sugar, malted milk powder, chocolate syrup, and vanilla extract; beat for 2 minutes.
  2. Add the egg to the mixture and beat until well combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture, mixing well after each addition.
  5. Stir in the semi-sweet chocolate chunks and milk chocolate chips.
  6. Shape the dough into 2-inch balls.
  7. Place the dough balls on ungreased baking sheets, spacing them 3 inches apart.
  8. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 12 to 14 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. Cool the cookies on the baking sheets for 2 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
