Ingredients

  • 3 1/2 c. cake flour
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 3 c. sugar
  • 1 stick margarine
  • 1 c. Crisco
  • 6 eggs
  • 2 tsp. lemon flavoring
  • 1 c. sweet milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F (163°C).
  2. Mix dry ingredients together: cake flour and baking powder.
  3. Cream together sugar, margarine, and Crisco until light and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  5. Stir in lemon flavoring.
  6. Alternately add sweet milk and flour mixture to the creamed mixture, mixing well after each addition.
  7. Pour batter into a prepared loaf pan or bundt pan.
  8. Bake for 1 hour and 30 minutes. Do not open the oven door for the first hour.
