Ingredients

  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 4 tablespoons flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 6 egg yolks
  • 2 lemons (juice)
  • small amount lemon rind

Instructions

  1. Beat the egg whites separately until stiff peaks form.
  2. Mix the beaten egg whites into the lemon sponge batter gently.
  3. Bake the bottom and filling together at about 400°F (200°C) until browned, approximately 20 to 25 minutes.
