Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. yeast
  • 1/2 c. lukewarm water
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. boiling water
  • 1 c. cold water
  • 6 c. flour (plain)

Instructions

  1. Dissolve yeast in 1/2 cup lukewarm water.
  2. Put sugar, shortening, and salt in a container you are making rolls in.
  3. Add 1 cup boiling water to the mixture.
  4. Stir until dissolved.
  5. Add 1 cup cold water.
  6. Stir in the yeast mixture.
  7. Beat the egg and add to the mixture.
  8. Add flour, 1 cup at a time, stirring until a soft dough forms.
  9. Cover and refrigerate.
