Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cups flour
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon allspice
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup applesauce (or oil)
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar
  • 1 cup water

Instructions

  1. In 8 inch square pan, mix well flour, sugar, cornstarch, baking soda, allspice, cinnamon, cloves and salt. Add applesauce, vinegar and water. Mix briskly with fork till well blended. Bake at preheated 350 for 30 minutes or till pick in center comes out clean. Cool in pan on rack.
