Ingredients

  • 2 eggs
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1/3 pound melted lard
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 3 to 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Mix eggs, milk, melted lard, sugar, salt, and 3 to 4 cups of all-purpose flour until the dough resembles pie crust dough. Handle as little as possible.
  2. Divide the dough in half and roll each portion to about 1/4-inch thickness.
  3. Cut into desired shapes, making sure not to make them too small. Slit centers and sides with a knife to prevent filling from accumulating air.
  4. Deep fry in hot lard until lightly browned on each side.
  5. Drain on paper towels until cooled.
  6. Dust with powdered sugar just before serving.
