Ingredients

  • 1 cup flour, sifted
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/4 cup shortening, chilled
  • 1/3 cup evaporated milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F.
  2. Sift dry ingredients together in a bowl.
  3. Cut in chilled shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Add evaporated milk all at once and stir until dough follows a fork around the bowl.
  5. Place dough on a lightly floured surface and pat out to 3/4-inch thickness.
  6. Use a small biscuit cutter or knife to cut into shapes.
  7. Bake on an ungreased cookie sheet at 425°F for 10 to 12 minutes.
