- Clean and wash the cooked lutefisk well.
- Put the fish, skin side up, in a colander.
- Place the colander in salted water, using 1/3 cup salt to 2 quarts water, in a large kettle.
- Simmer the fish until tender, usually about 10 to 15 minutes, if you want it to be firm.
- Remove the colander and drain the fish over the sink.
- Place the fish on a large platter and serve with melted butter.
