  • 1 can Eagle Brand milk

  3. Sprinkle coconut on top and spread evenly.
  4. Add butterscotch chips on top and spread evenly.

Tips & Substitutions

For a richer flavor, consider using unsalted butter instead of margarine. You can substitute walnuts or almonds for pecans if preferred. If you’re not a fan of butterscotch chips, try chocolate chips or peanut butter chips for a different taste. Ensure that the ingredients are well-spread to allow for even baking.

Serving Suggestions

Magic Cookies are delightful on their own but can be served alongside a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a drizzle of chocolate sauce for an indulgent dessert. They also pair beautifully with a cup of coffee or tea. For a fun twist, try serving them with a slice of Lemon Or Orange Icebox Pie for a refreshing contrast.

Storage & Reheating

Store leftover Magic Cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. For longer storage, refrigerate them for up to two weeks. To reheat, place in a microwave for a few seconds or in a preheated oven at 300°F until warmed through, which helps to retain their texture.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use sweetened coconut instead of unsweetened?

Yes, you can use sweetened coconut for a sweeter flavor. However, it may make the cookies richer, so adjust the sweetness of the other ingredients accordingly. Keep in mind that sweetened coconut will add additional sugar to the overall recipe.

Can I make these cookies gluten-free?

Absolutely! Substitute the graham cracker crumbs with gluten-free graham cracker crumbs or another gluten-free cookie crumb. Be sure to check that your chocolate chips and any other ingredients are also gluten-free to ensure the entire recipe meets your dietary needs.

How can I make these cookies more chocolatey?

For a more chocolatey flavor, simply replace some or all of the butterscotch chips with chocolate chips. You could also drizzle melted chocolate over the top after baking for an extra chocolatey treat. This variation would be a hit for chocolate lovers!
