Ingredients

  • 5 cups sifted self-rising flour
  • 1 cup oil
  • 1 package dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup lukewarm water
  • 2 cups buttermilk with 1 teaspoon soda
  • 2 teaspoons sugar

Instructions

  1. Mix sifted self-rising flour and oil in a bowl.
  2. Mix dry yeast with lukewarm water until dissolved.
  3. Blend in the yeast mixture with the flour and oil mixture.
  4. Add buttermilk with soda, sugar, and other ingredients to the mixture.
  5. Chill the mixture in a bowl for several hours or overnight.
  6. Roll the chilled dough out a little thicker than usual.
  7. Cut into biscuits and place on a baking sheet.
  8. Bake at 450°F until the biscuits are brown.
  9. Enjoy fresh or store for 7 to 10 days.
