Maple Brown Sugar Bars

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cups packaged brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons maple flavoring (not syrup)
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Grease 9" x 9" pan.
  3. Mix sugar and butter.
  4. Mix in eggs one at a time.
  5. Mix in flavoring.
  6. Add all but nuts and mix in.
  7. Stir in nuts.
  8. Bake 30-40 minutes until a toothpick inserted is nearly clean but not completely clean.
  9. For me they take 35 minutes, but watch them from 30 minutes on.
  10. I cut immediately to avoid excess breaking of the caramelized crust.
