  • 1 pt. cherry tomatoes
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 or 2 jalapeno peppers
  • 2 green peppers
  • 2 Tbsp. basil
  • 2 Tbsp. parsley
  • dash of salt
  • 1 Tbsp. garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Place cherry tomatoes, garlic, and jalapeno peppers in a blender and blend on chop until all ingredients are chopped.
  2. Remove the mixture from the blender and place it in a bowl.
  3. Manually chop green peppers into small pieces and add to the tomato mixture.
  4. Add basil, parsley, salt, and garlic powder, then mix all ingredients together.

Tips & Substitutions

For a milder salsa, consider removing the seeds from the jalapeno peppers before blending. You can also substitute the cherry tomatoes with roma tomatoes for a different flavor profile. Fresh herbs like cilantro can replace basil and parsley for a more vibrant taste. If you prefer a smokier flavor, add a bit of smoked paprika to the mix to create a dip that tastes like Panchos.

Serving Suggestions

This salsa is perfect as a dip for tortilla chips or fresh vegetables. It also pairs beautifully with grilled chicken or fish for a refreshing topping. Try it alongside other Mexican recipes like tacos or burritos for a complete meal. For a fun twist, serve it with a side of guacamole or the Black Bean And Red Papaya Salad for a vibrant starter.

Storage & Reheating

Store any leftover salsa in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To maintain freshness, avoid letting it sit out at room temperature for extended periods. If you want to enjoy it warm, you can gently heat it on the stove, but be careful not to cook it too long to preserve the fresh flavors.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I make this salsa ahead of time?

Yes, you can make this salsa a day in advance. This will allow the flavors to meld together, enhancing the overall taste. Just be sure to store it in an airtight container in the fridge and give it a good stir before serving.

Is this salsa spicy?

The spice level will depend on the number of jalapeno peppers you use. If you prefer less heat, start with one jalapeno and taste before adding more. Removing the seeds and membranes from the jalapenos will also reduce the spiciness significantly.

Can I freeze this salsa?

Freezing salsa is possible, but the texture may change once thawed. To freeze, place it in a freezer-safe container, leaving some space for expansion. When ready to use, thaw it in the refrigerator overnight and stir well before serving to restore some of the original consistency.
