Ingredients

  • 3 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 1/4 c. shortening
  • 1 egg
  • 6 Tbsp. cold water
  • 1 Tbsp. vinegar

Instructions

  1. Combine flour, salt, and sugar in a bowl.
  2. Cut the shortening into the flour mixture until crumbly.
  3. Beat the egg; add water and vinegar, then blend into the flour mixture until all of the flour is moist.
  4. Do not overbeat.
  5. Divide the dough in half and place each half on wax paper.
  6. Keep the dough cool until ready to roll out.
