Ingredients

  • 3 oranges
  • 3 lemons
  • 3 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 heaping tablespoon citric acid
  • 1 quart boiling water
  • 1 quart cold water

Instructions

  1. Grate or grind the oranges and lemons.
  2. Cover the grated or ground citrus with a quart of boiling water.
  3. Let the mixture stand for 10 minutes.
  4. Strain the mixture into a cloth and squeeze out the juice.
  5. Dissolve the sugar and citric acid in cold water.
  6. Mix the strained citrus juice with the sugar and citric acid solution.
  7. Add enough water to make a total of one gallon.
