Ingredients

  • 1 lb hamburger
  • 1/4 cup rice
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • salt and pepper
  • 4 to 5 potatoes
  • 2 cups tomato juice

Instructions

  1. Soak rice in hot water to soften, then drain.
  2. Mix hamburger, salt, pepper, soaked rice, egg, and milk together thoroughly.
  3. Form the mixture into meatballs and cover with water in a pot.
  4. Bring to a boil and cook until the meatballs are firm.
  5. Add peeled potatoes and some salt to the pot and cook until potatoes are done.
  6. Add tomato juice to the pot and bring to a boil.
  7. Optional: drain off some of the fat after the meatballs have cooked for a while.
