Ingredients

  • 1 Tbsp. vegetable oil
  • 1/3 cup chopped onion
  • 1/8 tsp. minced garlic
  • 1 (28 oz.) can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste
  • 1 tsp. dried basil
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 (15 oz.) package part-skim Ricotta cheese
  • 8 oz. grated Mozzarella cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1/8 tsp. ground pepper
  • 1/8 tsp. ground cloves or nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a large saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Add chopped onion and minced garlic; cook for 2 to 3 minutes, stirring constantly.
  3. Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, basil, and 1/2 teaspoon salt.
  4. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
