Ingredients

  • 3 egg whites
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 c. finely chopped nuts
  • 1/8 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla

Instructions

  1. Add salt to egg whites and beat until fairly stiff.
  2. Gradually add sugar while beating.
  3. Add vanilla and fold in chopped nuts.
  4. Drop by large spoonfuls onto a greased cookie sheet.
  5. Make a hole in the middle of each meringue.
  6. Bake in a 250°F oven for 50 to 60 minutes until firm and dry.
  7. Fill with whipped cream, fruit, or your preferred filling.
