  • 1 lb. American cheese slices
  • 1 medium onion
  • 1 garlic clove
  • 2 tsp. Accent seasoning
  • 4 tsp. Tabasco sauce
  • 1 small can chopped green chili peppers
  • 1 large can chopped chili peppers and tomatoes

Instructions

  1. Chop the onion and crush the garlic in a bowl.
  2. Add butter to the bowl.
  3. Microwave for 60 seconds or until the onion is limp.
  4. In a large frypan, melt the American cheese slices on low heat with the other ingredients.
  5. Add the chopped onion and crushed garlic to the frypan.
  6. Simmer over low heat until everything is melted together, about 2 hours.
  7. Serve hot with corn chips.

Tips & Substitutions

For a creamier dip, consider using a combination of American cheese and cream cheese, which also adds richness. If you prefer a milder flavor, reduce the amount of Tabasco sauce or substitute it with mild salsa. To speed up the cooking process, you can use a slow cooker on low for about 1-2 hours instead of simmering on the stovetop.

Serving Suggestions

This Mexican Cheese Dip pairs beautifully with corn chips for a classic appetizer. You can also serve it with fresh vegetable sticks or soft tortillas for a delightful snack. For a complete meal, consider serving it alongside Enchiladas 'Beef or Chicken' or a fresh salad like Jean's Taco Salad for a balanced table.

Storage & Reheating

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, place the dip in a microwave-safe bowl and heat in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until warmed through. Alternatively, reheat in a saucepan on low heat, stirring frequently to prevent sticking.
