  • 1 (1 1/4 oz.) pkg. taco seasoning mix
  • 3 Tbsp. picante sauce
  • 1 bunch green onions
  • 2 or 3 medium tomatoes
  • 1 small can sliced black olives (about 2 oz.)
  • 8 oz. shredded Cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. On a round pizza pan, spread refried beans evenly as the first layer.
  2. Mix sour cream, taco seasoning, and picante sauce together.

  4. Chop green onions and tomatoes and add as the fourth layer.
  5. Spread sliced black olives on top.

Tips & Substitutions

For a creamier texture, mash the avocados with the lemon juice before layering them. If you're short on time, consider using store-bought guacamole instead of fresh avocados. You can also replace the refried beans with black beans for a different flavor. To make it spicier, add diced jalapeños or a dash of hot sauce to the sour cream mixture.

Serving Suggestions

This Mexican Party Dip is perfect for gatherings and pairs beautifully with tortilla chips, veggie sticks, or pita bread. You can also serve it alongside other Mexican recipes like Enchilada Casserole(Mexican) or Senorita Betty'S Fiesta Taco Dip for a complete spread. Consider garnishing with extra green onions or cilantro for added freshness.

Storage & Reheating

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To maintain freshness, cover the top layer with plastic wrap to minimize air exposure, especially the avocado layer. This dip is best enjoyed cold, but if you prefer to warm it, place it in the oven at 350°F for about 10 minutes until heated through.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I make this dip ahead of time?

Yes, you can prepare this dip a day in advance. Layer the ingredients in a container, cover tightly, and refrigerate. However, for the best flavor and presentation, add the avocados and olives just before serving to prevent browning.

Is there a vegetarian option for the taco seasoning?

Absolutely! Look for a vegetarian taco seasoning mix, or make your own using spices like cumin, chili powder, garlic powder, and paprika. This way, you can ensure the dip remains vegetarian-friendly while still packing in plenty of flavor.

What can I serve with this dip?

This dip pairs excellently with crunchy tortilla chips, but you could also serve it with fresh vegetable sticks like carrots and celery for a healthier option. For a fun twist, try serving it with warm pita bread or even as a topping for baked potatoes.
