Ingredients

  • 2 batches air popped popcorn
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cube margarine
  • 1/4 cup Karo syrup

Instructions

  1. Combine brown sugar, margarine, Karo syrup, and salt in a microwave-safe container.
  2. Microwave on High for 2 1/2 minutes to boil the mixture.
  3. Add 1/2 teaspoon baking soda and stir well.
  4. Put popcorn in a large, heavy brown paper bag.
  5. Pour the caramel sauce over the popcorn and shake the bag vigorously to coat evenly.
  6. Microwave the bag on High for 1 1/2 minutes.
  7. Remove the bag and shake well.
  8. Microwave again for another 1 1/2 minutes.
  9. Remove and shake the bag again.
  10. Spread the caramel-coated popcorn on waxed paper to cool before serving.
