Ingredients

  • 4 tsp. butter or margarine
  • 1 medium onion
  • 3 to 5 lb. hamburger
  • 1 (40 oz.) can kidney beans
  • 1 (8 oz.) can mushrooms
  • 2 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1 Tbsp. paprika
  • 1 large bottle Brook catsup
  • 2 Tbsp. chili powder
  • pinch or 2 of cayenne pepper
  • 1 tsp. black pepper
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. water

Instructions

  1. In large pot, saute onions in butter.
  2. Add paprika.
  3. When clear, add mushrooms.
  4. Cook until tender, remove to bowl.
  5. Brown meat; don't drain.
  6. When browned, add onions and mushroom mix. Add beans, don't drain juice.
  7. Add spices, catsup and water. Cook, uncovered, 1 1/2 to 2 hours.
  8. Remove from heat.
  9. Let set for 30 minutes and enjoy.
  10. Better the 2nd day.
