Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 teaspoon shredded orange peel (optional)
  • 1 cup fresh mint, lightly crushed
  • 2 cups orange juice
  • 1 1/4 cups lemon juice
  • ginger ale or club soda, chilled

Instructions

  1. Combine 2 1/2 cups water and sugar in a saucepan; bring to a boil.
  2. Pour the hot syrup over the lightly crushed mint leaves.
  3. Add orange juice and lemon juice to the mixture.
  4. Cover and let steep for at least one hour.
  5. Strain the mixture and cover; chill until cold.
  6. For each serving, pour 1/3 cup of the fruit mixture into a tall glass over ice, if desired.
  7. Fill the glass with chilled ginger ale or club soda.
