- Preheat oven to 200°F (93°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, beat egg whites and cream of tartar until foamy.
- Slowly add sugar while beating until stiff, shiny peaks form.
- Gently fold in M&M's bits.
- Spoon 12 mounds, approximately 2 to 2½ inches wide, onto the prepared baking sheet.
- Garnish with additional M&M's bits on top, if desired.
- Bake for 2 hours until dry and crisp.
- Turn off the oven and let cool in the oven for 2 hours.
