- Slice a thin slab off each side of the baked potatoes.
- Slice the slabs into thin French fry shapes.
- Cut the remaining potato blocks in half, then into quarters and eighths to match fry size.
- Place 2 cups of water in a bowl and add 1/3 cup sugar.
- Soak the cut potato pieces in the sugar water for 1 hour or more.
- Pour off the water and place the soaked potatoes in a flat baking dish.
- Melt butter or margarine in a small pan.
- Add chopped chives, parsley, and garlic powder or garlic salt to the melted butter.
- Pour the herb butter mixture over the potatoes.
- Bake in a preheated 350°F oven for 30 minutes or until done.
