Ingredients

  • 2 eggs, well beaten
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup shortening, melted
  • 2 cups well drained, cut up, pitted cooked prunes
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon soda

Instructions

  1. Blend sugar, shortening, and prunes into the beaten eggs.
  2. Measure flour by dip-level-pour method or by sifting.
  3. Blend flour, salt, and soda; stir into the prune mixture.
  4. Pour into a well-greased 1-quart steamed pudding mold.
  5. Secure the lid of the mold and steam for 1 hour.
  6. If you don't have a steamer, use a Dutch oven filled halfway with water.
  7. Place the mold on a rack in the middle of the pan and cover.
  8. Serve hot with Creamy Sauce.
