Mom'S Stollen
Ingredients
- 4 c. flour, sifted once ⓘ
- 4 Tbsp. sugar ⓘ
- 1/2 lb. butter or margarine ⓘ
- pinch of salt ⓘ
- 4 egg yolks ⓘ
- 3/4 c. milk ⓘ
- 1/2 c. lukewarm water ⓘ
- 2 pkg. dry yeast ⓘ
- small additional amount sugar ⓘ
- small additional amount melted butter ⓘ
- 2 cans Solo almond paste
- 2 egg whites ⓘ
- chopped nuts and candied cherries ⓘ
Instructions
- Mix first four ingredients as for pie crust and set aside. Dissolve yeast in lukewarm water and let stand for 10 minutes.
- Mix well beaten egg yolks with warmed milk and add risen yeast. Combine with flour mixture that had previously been set aside.
- Put in greased and covered bowl and refrigerate overnight.
