Ingredients

  • 1 small yeast cake
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 c. sugar
  • 1 c. warm water
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 Tbsp. melted shortening
  • 3 1/2 c. flour

Instructions

  1. Crumble yeast in mixing bowl; add salt, sugar, water and beaten egg.
  2. Stir in 2 cups flour; stir until smooth.
  3. Stir in melted Spry or shortening; add rest of flour.
  4. Mix well.
  5. Let rise once, then shape like Parker House rolls.
  6. Bake at 350° for 15 minutes.
