- Dissolve yeast with 3/4 cup warm water; set aside.
- In a large bowl, mix sugar, butter, salt, and hot water; let cool.
- Add egg, yeast mixture, and flour to the bowl.
- Let the dough rise, then punch it down.
- Divide the dough into 3 parts and roll each into a rectangle.
- Cover each rectangle with soft butter.
- Sprinkle with sugar, brown sugar, and cinnamon.
- Roll each rectangle up lengthwise and form a circle; pinch the edges together.
- Cut slits across the top with scissors and turn up the angles.
- Let the rolls rise again.
- Bake at 400°F (200°C) until brown, about 10 to 15 minutes.
- Allow to cool.
- Prepare sugar glaze with powdered sugar and hot water.
- Trim the rolls with pecans and cherries, then drizzle with glaze.
