Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup very warm water
  • 2 packages yeast
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 cup Crisco
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 cup cold water
  • 2 eggs
  • 6 cups flour

Instructions

  1. Dissolve warm water and yeast in a small bowl.
  2. Cream sugar and Crisco together until smooth.
  3. Add boiling water, salt, cold water, and eggs to the mixture; beat after each addition.
  4. Stir in the dissolved yeast.
  5. Gradually add flour, 2 cups at a time, mixing well.
  6. Place the dough in a large greased bowl.
  7. Cover with Saran Wrap and let rise for about 2 hours until doubled in size.
  8. Punch down the dough and refrigerate until ready to use.
  9. Roll out the dough 2 hours before baking.
