Ingredients

  • 3 c. flour, sifted
  • 2 rounded tsp. baking powder
  • good 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 6 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 c. raisins, washed and floured
  • 1 c. sweet milk
  • 1 egg

Instructions

  1. Sift first 4 dry ingredients together.
  2. Mix in butter or shortening.
  3. Put in raisins.
  4. Beat egg in cup with fork; add milk. Add to mixed ingredients.
  5. Bake in greased bread pan at 350° for 3/4 to 1 hour.
  6. If buttermilk is used in place of sweet milk, add speck of baking soda.
