- Blend 1/3 cup of sugar, cornstarch, and crushed pineapple.
- Cook the pineapple mixture, stirring constantly until thick and clear. Cool.
- In a separate bowl, blend cream cheese with 1/2 cup sugar, salt, and eggs, added one at a time.
- Stir the cream cheese mixture well.
- Add milk and vanilla, blend until smooth.
- Spread cooled pineapple mixture into the unbaked pie shell.
- Pour the cream cheese mixture over the pineapple layer.
- Sprinkle with chopped macadamia nuts.
- Bake at 400°F for 10 minutes, then reduce oven temperature to 325°F and bake for an additional 50 minutes.
- Allow the pie to cool before serving.
