Ingredients

  • 48 vanilla wafers
  • vanilla pudding and pie filling
  • 2 1/2 cups milk
  • 1 tablespoon butter or margarine
  • 2 medium bananas

Instructions

  1. Line the bottom and sides of an 8-inch square or 1 1/2-quart baking dish with vanilla wafers.
  2. Combine the vanilla pudding mix, milk, and butter in a saucepan.
  3. Cook and stir over medium heat until the mixture comes to a full boil.
  4. Remove from heat and layer sliced bananas over the wafers.
  5. Add a layer of pudding over the bananas.
  6. Repeat the layers: wafers, bananas, and pudding.
  7. Chill the assembled pudding for at least 3 hours.
  8. Serve topped with whipped cream or meringue, and garnish with additional banana slices.
