Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cups sugar
  • 2 sticks margarine or butter
  • 5 eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 tablespoon lemon extract

Instructions

  1. Cream sugar and butter slowly in a mixer until well combined; beat at high speed for 4 to 5 minutes.
  2. Add eggs one at a time and beat well after each addition.
  3. Add salt, flour, and lemon extract; beat until well mixed.
  4. Beat at high speed for 5 to 10 minutes.
  5. Place the batter in a cold oven.
  6. Bake at 325°F for 1 hour and 15 minutes to 1 hour and 30 minutes or until golden brown.
