No Sugar Apple Bars

- In saucepan, mix water, raisins, apples, shortening, cinnamon and nutmeg.
- Bring to boil and simmer 3 minutes.
- Cool.
- In mixing bowl, beat egg.
- Add vanilla and the cooked mixture, flour, soda, salt and nuts.
- Mix well.
- Put in a greased or sprayed cake pan. Bake at 350° for about 25 minutes or until done.
- Remove from oven and set on rack 10 minutes.
- Turn out and cut into 24 bars.
- Serve warm or can be frozen.
