Ingredients

  • 1 c. chopped dates
  • 1 c. sugar (scant)
  • 2 Tbsp. butter
  • 2 1/4 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 egg, well beaten
  • 1 c. nuts
  • 1/8 tsp. salt

Instructions

  1. Pour 1 cup of boiling water over the dates, sugar and butter. When cold, add flour, soda, egg, nuts and salt.
  2. Bake slowly about 1 hour.
