Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • a dash of salt
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 box vanilla wafers
  • 6 bananas, sliced

Instructions

  1. Combine 1/2 cup sugar, flour, and salt in the top of a double boiler.
  2. Mix in 1 whole egg and 3 egg yolks.
  3. Stir in milk.
  4. Cook, uncovered, over boiling water, stirring constantly, until thick. Remove from heat.
  5. Stir in vanilla.
  6. Pour the custard over layered bananas and wafers.
