Old Time Peppermint Candy Cake

Instructions
- Combine butter, sugar, eggs and vanilla in a large mixing bowl.
- Beat on high speed for 3 minutes.
- Combine flour, cocoa, baking soda, baking powder and salt.
- Add alternately with water to creamed mixture.
- Blend just until combined.
- Add candy.
- Pour into 2 greased and floured 9-inch layer pans.
- Bake at 350° for 30 to 35 minutes or until cake is done.
- Cool 10 minutes.
