Ingredients

  • 2 lb. ground beef
  • 2 envelopes spaghetti sauce mix
  • 1 qt. creamed cottage cheese
  • 1/2 lb. uncooked lasagna noodles
  • 4 tsp. basil leaves
  • 2 Tbsp. parsley flakes
  • 1 (1 lb.) can whole tomatoes
  • 1 (15 oz.) can tomato sauce
  • 1 c. water
  • 1/2 lb. low-fat mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  1. In a 9 x 13-inch pan or buffet electric skillet, layer the cooked, drained ground beef, one package of spaghetti sauce mix, cottage cheese, uncooked lasagna noodles, another package of spaghetti sauce mix, basil, parsley, and salt.
  2. Pour the pureed tomatoes, tomato sauce, and water over all, ensuring all noodles are moistened.
  3. If using a skillet, bring to a boil, cover, and simmer for 35 minutes or until noodles are tender.
  4. If using an oven, cover and bake at 325°F for 45 minutes or until noodles are tender.
