Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup shortening or margarine
  • 1 3/4 cups brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1 1/2 cups self-rising flour
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts

Instructions

  1. Cream shortening and sugar; add eggs and beat.
  2. Add vanilla flavoring and mix.
  3. Mix in flour and add nuts.
  4. Bake at 350°F for 25 minutes in a greased 9 x 13-inch pan.
  5. When cool, cut into squares or long strips.
