Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. seedless raisins
  • 3 c. water
  • 3 c. flour
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 1 c. shortening
  • 1 Tbsp. cinnamon
  • 1 Tbsp. nutmeg
  • 1 Tbsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt

Instructions

  1. Boil raisins in 2 cups of water for 15 minutes and let cool.
  2. Sift dry ingredients together: flour, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Add cooled raisins and 1 cup of water, mixing well.
  4. Melt shortening in a baking pan.
  5. Pour the batter into the pan with the melted shortening, mixing the rest of the shortening in.
  6. Bake in a 350°F oven for 1 hour.
