Ingredients

  • 1 box hot roll mix
  • 1 medium white baking potato
  • 1 stick butter or margarine
  • 1/8 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 cup shredded sharp Cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Peel, cube, and boil the potato in 1 cup water with a sprinkle of salt until tender.
  2. Drain the potato, reserving the cooking liquid.
  3. Add enough water to the reserved liquid to make 1 cup, then prepare the hot roll mix according to package instructions, adding ingredients called for on the package.
  4. Knead the dough and let it rest for 5 minutes.
  5. Roll the dough into a rectangle.
  6. Mix garlic powder into the melted butter and brush half of it onto the dough.
  7. Mash the cooked potato and spread it over the dough.
  8. Sprinkle shredded sharp Cheddar cheese over the mashed potato.
