- Peel, cube, and boil the potato in 1 cup water with a sprinkle of salt until tender.
- Drain the potato, reserving the cooking liquid.
- Add enough water to the reserved liquid to make 1 cup, then prepare the hot roll mix according to package instructions, adding ingredients called for on the package.
- Knead the dough and let it rest for 5 minutes.
- Roll the dough into a rectangle.
- Mix garlic powder into the melted butter and brush half of it onto the dough.
- Mash the cooked potato and spread it over the dough.
- Sprinkle shredded sharp Cheddar cheese over the mashed potato.
