- In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in lukewarm water and let stand for 10 minutes.
- Drop eggs into a mixing bowl; add melted shortening, milk, dissolved yeast, sugar, and salt.
- Beat well and begin working in the sifted all-purpose flour. Knead continuously in the bowl until the dough is smooth and elastic.
- Cover the dough and let rest in a warm place for 45 minutes or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough and cut off small pieces about the size of a walnut.
- Place the dough pieces in a greased muffin pan.
- Let the rolls rise in a warm place until they are as high as the pan.
- Bake in a preheated 400°F oven for 8 to 12 minutes.
- Remove from oven and brush hot rolls with margarine for added flavor.
