- Add sugar, vanilla, and eggs to the melted and cooled margarine and mix well.
- Sift together flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon in a separate bowl.

- Peel and dice the apples, then fold them into the batter.
- Add chopped nuts if desired and gently fold into the mixture.
- Pour the batter into a greased 9 x 13-inch baking pan.
