- Warm the milk to lukewarm and combine with the butter.
- In a large bowl, mix flour, egg yolks, and vanilla extract.
- Crumble the yeast cakes and add 3 tablespoons of sugar until melted.
- Add the yeast mixture to the flour and egg mixture along with the salt.
- Pour in the milk and butter mixture and mix well.
- Cover tightly and refrigerate overnight.
- Next day, chop 6 cups of walnuts and divide into 6 equal portions.
- Beat the egg whites and slowly add 1½ cups of sugar.
- Divide the egg white mixture into 6 equal balls.
- Roll out one ball of dough very thin.
- Spread one portion of egg whites over the dough and sprinkle with one cup of chopped nuts, then roll the dough like a cinnamon roll.
- Repeat the process with remaining dough portions.
- Place 2 rolls on a cookie sheet.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25 to 30 minutes or until golden brown.
- Allow to cool slightly before serving.
