Peach Jam Bread

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 1/3 c. shortening
  • 2 eggs
  • 3/4 c. peach jam
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 c. buttermilk

Instructions

  1. Mix flour, salt, soda, cinnamon and nutmeg.
  2. Beat in a large mixing bowl the sugar and shortening until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in eggs one at a time.
  4. Add peach jam and vanilla; mix well.
  5. Add flour mixture and buttermilk alternately to creamed mixture; beat well.
  6. Pour into 2 greased and floured loaf pans.
  7. Bake at 350° for 40 to 45 minutes.
