- Melt oleo or butter in the bottom of a baking dish; pour in one large can of peaches with juice or one quart of apples.
- If apples are not sweetened, add 1 1/2 cups of sugar to the fruit.
- Make a batter with the remaining ingredients: sugar, salt, sweet milk, flour, baking powder, and vanilla.
- Pour the batter over the fruit without stirring it into the fruit.
- Bake at 350°F until done, about 25 to 30 minutes.
