Ingredients

  • 1/4 stick oleo or butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup sweet milk
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

  1. Melt oleo or butter in the bottom of a baking dish; pour in one large can of peaches with juice or one quart of apples.
  2. If apples are not sweetened, add 1 1/2 cups of sugar to the fruit.
  3. Make a batter with the remaining ingredients: sugar, salt, sweet milk, flour, baking powder, and vanilla.
  4. Pour the batter over the fruit without stirring it into the fruit.
  5. Bake at 350°F until done, about 25 to 30 minutes.
