Ingredients

  • 1 quart half and half
  • 1 1/4 cups sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 cups whipping cream
  • 3 pounds fresh peaches, peeled and sliced

Instructions

  1. Scald the half and half in a saucepan.
  2. Stir in sugar until dissolved, then add vanilla and lightly beaten eggs.
  3. Cook in the top of a double boiler, stirring constantly, until the mixture coats a spoon.
  4. Chill the mixture thoroughly.
  5. Stir in the whipping cream and transfer to an ice cream freezer.
  6. Freeze according to the manufacturer's instructions.
