Ingredients

  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • 2/3 cup dry cake mix (reserved from the box)
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups white or dark Karo syrup

Instructions

  1. Mix the yellow cake mix, 1/2 cup melted butter, and 1 egg together until well combined.
  2. Press the mixture into a 9 x 13-inch baking pan.
  3. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 15 to 20 minutes or until golden brown.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine 1/2 cup brown sugar, 3 eggs, and 1 1/2 cups Karo syrup, mixing well.
  5. Pour the syrup mixture over the baked crust.
  6. Sprinkle 1 cup chopped pecans evenly over the top.
  7. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 20-25 minutes or until set.
  8. Allow to cool before serving.
