Ingredients

  • 2 egg whites
  • 1/8 tsp. salt
  • 1/8 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 peppermint candy canes, crushed

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, beat egg whites until foamy.
  2. Sprinkle with salt and cream of tartar; beat until soft peaks form.
  3. Gradually add sugar, beating until stiff peaks form, about 7 minutes.
  4. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto ungreased foil or paper-lined baking sheets.
  5. Sprinkle with the crushed peppermint candies.
  6. Bake at 225°F for 1 1/2 hours.
  7. Turn off heat; leave cookies in the oven with the door ajar for at least 1 hour or until cool.
  8. Store in an airtight container.
